Disk Performance:
The SATA read tests were conducted with a 200GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 (model number: ST3200827AS) using HD Tach 3.0.1.0's 8MB zone test. Both the IDE and USB 2.0 tests were done using an ATA133 160GB Maxtor DiamondMax 10 hard drive (model number: 6L160PO) using the same 8MB zone test. We recorded the average read speeds in all cases.
SATA performance is about where it should be on the ABIT AN8 32X. Both the Sil 3132 and the native NVIDIA SATA II storage controllers allow our Seagate drive to read at just over 50MB/sec.
The ABIT AN8 32X was the slowest in this test, but we're talking about a mere 0.1MB/sec here - that's hardly worth writing home about.
The DFI LANParty nF4 SLI-DR had the highest USB 2.0 transfer performance, with the ABIT AN8 32X and ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe returning the same read speeds.
